Brightwell Payments Expands Business Development Team

ATLANTA, March 12, 2012 – Brightwell Payments, a payments company offering comprehensive prepaid debit card solutions for corporations and consumers, announces the expansion of its business development team with the additions of Helen Child as European Business Development Consultant, and Michael Ross as Senior Vice President of Business Development.

Internationally, Child will target commercial shipping companies and cruise lines leveraging the company’s maritime paycard product, OceanPay®, and its new EMV card and Euro settlement capabilities. With continued industry growth and increasing cardholder acceptance in Europe, Child fills a critical role in Brightwell Payments’ international growth strategy.

“Helen increases our sales bench strength through her years of business development experience in the European prepaid marketplace. Brightwell will greatly benefit from Child’s keen understanding of the European payments infrastructure as well as her knowledge of the nuances in the various European prepaid business models.  She will also be located within a short plane ride of our European prospects, which should add to our responsiveness,” said Peter Mahr, Executive Vice President of Sales for Brightwell Payments.

OceanPay is a comprehensive turnkey payroll solution designed specifically for the maritime industry. OceanPay provides convenience and savings for crewmembers allowing crewmembers to perform financial transactions onboard, including wire transfers, card-to-card transfers, and more. For the employer, OceanPay delivers an overall reduction in payroll costs and security risks are minimized as onboard cash reserves are reduced.

Ross will focus on domestic payroll as part of the company’s strategic plan to increase market share of its paycard product, Powercash®. In addition, Ross will work to develop new distribution partners for the company’s Powercash payroll, general purpose reloadable (GPR), and loyalty, award and promotional card programs.

‘I’m equally delighted to have Mike join the team. Mike’s vast prepaid experience over the past 10+ years will enable him to guide our growing domestic sales team as it focuses primarily on payroll, both domestic and maritime, and GPR,” said Mahr.

Powercash is a turnkey payroll solution that integrates seamlessly with an employer’s existing payroll processor, while reducing costs and increasing efficiencies. Powercash paycards allow an employer to increase direct deposit participation and implement 100% electronic payroll. Employees save money by eliminating check cashing fees and receive instant access to payroll on each payday. With online banking and mobile apps, Powercash lets employees spend less time managing their money and more time enjoying life.

Child is a payments industry veteran with an extensive background in payments processing, most recently serving as the founding director and CEO of G-T-P Group, a U.K payments processor and prepaid card company. Child is currently serving as CEO for Striding Edge (UK) Ltd., a prepaid consulting firm.  Child is a frequent speaker within the payments and prepaid industry and was voted one of the “10 Most Powerful Women in Prepaid” by Paybefore magazine subscribers in 2010.
